WE HAD A BABY!!!
Wow O Wow does no one tell you what adding a half of employee to the mix does to you as an entrepreneur. Don’t get me wrong, having a baby has been one of the most joyful times of our lives, but it has also been one of the most difficult adjustments as an entrepreneur that we have ever had to deal with. We think about perfecting the new additions to the bedroom and spending the money to buy all of the things that come with a tiny human. You don’t think toooo much about the fact that you are going to have to be on more of a schedule (or create a schedule in general) or be home at a certain time because ya know, kids like to sleep at night and not pull all nighters working. Babies are very flexible for the most part, they will sleep whenever/ wherever, and they tend to fit right into your life seamlessly. That is unless you are a frantic entrepreneur that doesn’t always know the day of the week or how many days it’s been since the baby has had a bath. It’s been a year now, and things are definitely starting to even out, but here are a few tips I picked up along the way- usually the hard way.
- Ask for Help. Period. It’s not a hard one to understand, but it’s sometimes hard for us hard-headed, entrepreneurs that think we need to be superheroes and do it all on our own to ask someone to help us. DO IT. You are going to need it.
- Create a Schedule and STICK to it as much as you possibly can. It will allow you to stay sane and allow your mini to keep up with you during the day.
- Outsource, Outsource, Outsource. This is along the lines of asking for help. If you have someone else that can take something off your plate, even just for a while. Take advantage.
- Slow Down. Don’t rush yourself to do things before you are ready. You are an entrepreneur and are allowed to move your own schedule to accommodate YOU. Don’t forget that.
Good luck out there, and remember you are not alone.
